Nico Robin Statue
Robin (ロビン像), the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates from the acclaimed anime One Piece, possesses a remarkable ability: she can reproduce her body parts, allowing her to lend a hand—literally—whenever needed. Calm, intelligent, and deeply inquisitive, Robin embodies knowledge, resilience, and quiet strength. Her statue stands at the Kumamoto Earthquake Museum, near the dramatic valley entrance to the Aso Caldera. This site was once home to Tokai University’s Aso Campus, a center of learning and discovery tragically damaged beyond use during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes. The statue was installed as part of the One Piece Kumamoto Revival Project, a heartfelt collaboration between Kumamoto Prefecture and One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, who is originally from the region. The project was launched to support and inspire the recovery of earthquake-affected communities across the prefecture.
Today, the former campus has been transformed into an open-air museum dedicated to educating visitors about the earthquake’s impact and the region’s recovery journey. Admission is free, and the preserved ruins and exhibits offer a moving glimpse into both devastation and determination. In this setting, Robin’s statue takes on powerful symbolic meaning. As a seeker of truth and hidden histories, she stands as a tribute to learning, remembrance, and the strength that comes from understanding the past to rebuild the future. Her presence honors not only the resilience of Kumamoto’s people but also the enduring spirit of knowledge and hope.

The Nico Robin statue was a bit tricky to find, but it was well worth the trip! Her elegant pose and detailed design truly captured her character’s charm. The craftsmanship was stunning, from her confident expression to the intricate details of her outfit.
It’s quite far from Kumamoto City, making the journey a bit long, but the adventure added to the excitement. The peaceful surroundings made it a great spot to take in the beauty of both Robin and the area. If you’re a fan, it’s definitely a must-visit despite the distance!2 months ago — by Emma
