Roronoa Zoro Statue

3 of 10 in attractions in One Piece Kumamoto Revival Project
5.0 (1 review)

Roronoa Zoro (ゾロ像), the chief fighter of the Straw Hat Pirates from the popular anime One Piece, is a master swordsman known for his powerful and unique “three-sword style.” Once a fearless bounty hunter, he now protects his crew with strength, discipline, and determination. His statue stands in Ozu Central Park, just a short walk from Higo Ozu Station, in a town celebrated for its martial arts traditions. It was installed as part of the One Piece Kumamoto Revival Project, a special collaboration between Kumamoto Prefecture and One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda—who hails from the region. This project was launched to support and inspire recovery following the devastating 2016 earthquakes.

Ozu was among the affected areas, and its local martial arts hall was destroyed in the disaster. Zoro’s statue now stands as a symbol of hope and resilience. With his swords drawn and eyes focused, he inspires young people to stay strong, face challenges with courage, and never give up. His presence in the park is a powerful reminder of the community’s strength and the enduring spirit of recovery in Kumamoto.
