Monkey D. Luffy Statue

1 of 10 in attractions in One Piece Kumamoto Revival Project
5.0 (1 review)

Monkey D. Luffy (ルフィ像), the fearless leader of the Straw Hat Pirates from the globally beloved anime One Piece, stands proudly in front of the Kumamoto Prefectural Government Office, striking a bold and determined pose. With his fist raised high and his signature straw hat in place, Luffy’s statue captures the essence of courage, hope, and unbreakable willpower. Installed as part of the One Piece Kumamoto Revival Project — a collaboration between Kumamoto Prefecture and One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, who hails from the region—the statue honors and supports the area's recovery from the devastating 2016 earthquakes. More than a tribute to an iconic anime character, Luffy’s statue stands as a powerful symbol of leadership and resilience at the very heart of the prefectural government.

The placement of Luffy in front of the government office is both symbolic and meaningful. As captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy unites people through his unwavering optimism and fearless leadership—qualities deeply needed in times of crisis. His rubber-like body, granted by the powers of a Devil Fruit, enables him to bend and stretch without breaking—mirroring the strength and flexibility of Kumamoto’s people as they rebuild their lives and communities. His presence inspires unity, perseverance, and action, serving as a lasting reminder that no matter the obstacle, the spirit to overcome endures in every corner of Kumamoto.

The Monkey D. Luffy statue was my favorite of all! Seeing the captain of the Straw Hats standing proudly in Kumamoto was such a blast. The statue perfectly captures his adventurous spirit, and the attention to detail was incredible. It felt surreal standing next to him, almost like being part of the One Piece world.

Traveling to Kumamoto just to see Luffy was absolutely worth it! The excitement of finally reaching his statue made the trip unforgettable. Whether you're a longtime fan or just love adventure, this is a must-see. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!
