Brook Statue
Brook (ブルック像), the soulful musician and swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates from the iconic anime One Piece, brings his unique charm to Mifune Dinosaur Park — a whimsical site famed for its life-sized dinosaur displays. As a lively skeleton with a passion for music and laughter, Brook fits right in among the prehistoric giants, blending fantasy with fun. His statue stands near the park entrance, which is also home to Heisei College of Music. The college was heavily damaged during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes, but Brook’s presence here strikes a hopeful note: since the disaster, he has symbolically performed alongside students to uplift the community through music and joy. The statue was installed as part of the One Piece Kumamoto Revival Project, a heartfelt collaboration between Kumamoto Prefecture and One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, who is originally from the region. The project was launched to support and inspire the recovery of earthquake-affected communities across the prefecture.
Mifune Dinosaur Park has since grown into more than just a family attraction—it has become a space of healing, creativity, and resilience. The combination of towering dinosaur sculptures and Brook’s ever-cheerful spirit makes it a place where the past, imagination, and recovery come together. For visitors, the park offers not only entertainment and history, but also a powerful reminder of how the arts—and laughter—can help restore what was lost. Brook stands as a skeletal symbol of life’s rhythm, echoing the enduring strength of the people of Mifune.
