Kawagoe Festival Museum
Kawagoe Festival Museum (川越まつり会館, Kawagoe Matsuri Kaikan) lets you experience the lively spirit of Kawagoe’s most famous event all year round. Located near the historic Warehouse District, the museum displays beautifully decorated festival floats used in the Kawagoe Festival. These giant floats are known for their detailed carvings, colorful designs, and mechanical puppet performances that bring the celebration to life.
The museum also shows videos, music, and costumes from the festival, so visitors can learn what makes it special. The Kawagoe Festival, held every October, is over 370 years old and is even listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Even if you can’t visit during the actual festival, the museum gives you a fun and interactive taste of it anytime.
