Shuttle buses run from Fukushima Station’s East Exit to Hanamiyama during cherry blossom season (mid- to late April). The ride takes 15 minutes and costs 250 yen. You can also walk from the station in about an hour or take a 15-minute taxi ride, which costs about 1800 yen one way.
Hanamiyama
Hanamiyama (花見山) stretches across soft, rolling hills on the edge of Fukushima, where generations of farmers planted cherry trees and seasonal blossoms around their fields. Over time, these efforts created a vibrant spring panorama filled with shades of pink, white, and yellow. From mid- to late April, the hillsides come alive as Somei Yoshino and other cherry varieties bloom in layers along the slopes, revealing views of the Azuma Mountains beyond the valley. The combination of rural farmland, flowering orchards, and distant peaks gives the area a serene atmosphere ideal for travelers seeking scenic spring landscapes.
When the blossoms are at their peak, a seasonal visitor center greets guests who arrive by shuttle from Fukushima Station or nearby parking lots. Flower-lined paths branch out from this starting point, leading toward the southern slope where multiple walking routes offer gentle strolls or longer hikes up to a lookout with sweeping views of Fukushima and the mountain range. Across the valley, the emerging northern slope offers quieter trails, higher vantage points, and expanding groves of cherry trees, providing visitors with additional routes to explore the vibrant colors of the hillside.
