You can walk to Tenshochi Park from Kitakami Station in about 20 minutes.

Tenshochi Park
Tenshochi Park (展勝地公園, Tenshōchi Kōen) in Kitakami is a beautiful place surrounded by nature, where the spring season brings a magical view of cherry blossoms. Along the Kitakami River, over 10,000 cherry trees bloom and form a two-kilometer tunnel of white and pink flowers. Even without the seasonal ferry this year, walking by the river offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere.
Next to the park, you’ll find Michinoku Folklore Village, an open-air museum with 30 preserved farmhouses and historic buildings from across Tohoku. These old-style homes show how people lived in the past. Near the entrance, the Kitakami City Museum displays Buddhist art, natural history, and local culture, giving you a deeper understanding of the area’s traditions.
