Michinoku Folklore Village

2 of 2 in Kitakami

Michinoku Folklore Village (みちのく民俗村, Michinoku Minzoku Mura) is a peaceful open-air museum where you can explore how people lived in the Tohoku region long ago. Located in Kitakami, the village features traditional thatched-roof houses, samurai residences, and old-fashioned buildings surrounded by nature. Walking through the site feels like stepping back in time.

In each house, you’ll see tools, furniture, and displays showing daily life from centuries past. Seasonal flowers, trees, and mountain views make the experience even more enjoyable. It’s a relaxing place for both families and history lovers who want to learn about the local culture in a beautiful outdoor setting.
