Chikurin-in Temple is about a 30-minute walk from Yoshinoyama Station at the top of the Yoshino Ropeway.

Chikurin-in Temple
Chikurin-in Temple (竹林院, Chikurin-in) sits between the Naka and Kami Senbon areas of Mount Yoshino and blends spiritual tradition with the comforts of a ryokan. Once a lodging place for Shugendo mountain monks, it now welcomes all travelers looking to relax in a peaceful setting. During cherry blossom season, this serene retreat is especially popular, so booking early is highly recommended.
The temple is also home to Gunpoen, a beautiful garden said to be designed by tea master Sen-no-Rikyu. With a large pond surrounded by cherry trees, it's a lovely place for a stroll. Walking trails behind the garden lead to quiet viewpoints and an archery ground, offering peaceful spots to take in views across the valley and toward Kinpusenji Temple in the distance.
