Take a highway bus or the local Awakami Awahime community bus to Higashiura Bus Terminal. From there, it’s about a 10-minute taxi ride to the park.
Awaji Hanasajiki
Awaji Hanasajiki (あわじ花さじき) spreads across a broad highland in northern Awaji Island, where gentle breezes from the sea sweep through fields of flowers that change with the seasons. In spring, tulips and poppies brighten the hillsides; summer brings vivid sunflowers and zinnias; autumn is filled with cosmos and scarlet sage; and winter blooms offer soft touches of color even on cooler days. The park’s themed areas, such as the Healing Garden and Fureai Flower Garden, invite slow exploration, making it a favorite place for strolls, photo walks, and relaxing outings with family, friends, or pets. With free admission year-round, it’s an easy and welcoming stop for anyone traveling through the island.
One of the landscape’s signature features is the large-scale Earthwork installation—a vast, ever-changing design shaped directly into the grasslands, visible from above and admired for its artistic scale. Visitors can climb the elevated observation deck to look out across rolling flower carpets, the distant sea, and the expansive sky stretching toward the Akashi Strait. After taking in the views, nearby cafés and restaurants offer pleasant spots to rest, such as the Scandinavian-inspired Galleri, the vegetable-centered Haru San-San, or the elegant French dining of Auberge French Forest.
