Fujinomiya Travel Tips

3 of 4 in Shizuoka Prefecture

Fujinomiya (富士宮), nestled on Mount Fuji's southwestern slopes in Shizuoka Prefecture, is a gateway to Japan’s iconic peak. At the heart of the city is the revered Fujinomiya Sengen Shrine, a historic site and traditional starting point for climbers aiming for Fuji’s summit. The popular Fujinomiya 5th Station offers one of the shortest routes up the mountain, attracting climbers from near and far.

Beyond the mountain, Fujinomiya enchants visitors with the stunning Shiraito Falls, considered one of Japan's most picturesque waterfalls. Located on the way to the Fuji Five Lakes, it’s a must-see for nature enthusiasts.

Getting around

Fujinomiya Station is the main transport hub in Fujinomiya, with easy access to Fujisan Sengen Shrine on foot. Buses connect the station to Shiraito Falls, Fuji Five Lakes, and Fujinomiya 5th Station. Shin-Fuji Station offers limited bus service to these locations, but Fuji Station is 1.5 km away and has fewer bus connections.

The Mount Fuji West Side Story Passport offers two days of unlimited bus rides for 2500 yen and discounts at attractions. Renting a car from Shin-Fuji or Kawaguchiko Station is recommended for more flexibility.
