Furusato Village is north of the town center. From Tono Station, it takes about 20 minutes to get there by bus, taxi, or bicycle, but the road has some hills.

Furusato Village
Furusato Village (ふるさと村, Furusato Mura) in Tono is a charming place that brings Japan’s rural past to life. The village is beautifully preserved, with traditional thatched-roof farmhouses, watermills, storehouses, and open fields that reflect an authentic farming lifestyle. The peaceful countryside setting also makes it a favorite spot for filming TV shows and movies.
What makes Furusato Village special is that visitors can take part in hands-on experiences. You can try traditional farming, make crafts from straw or bamboo, and get a feel for how people lived long ago. It’s a fun way to learn about Japanese heritage while enjoying the fresh air and quiet scenery of Tono.
