Hodosan Shrine

6 of 7 in Chichibu

Hodosan Shrine (寳登山神社, Hodosan Jinja) is a peaceful and historic site located at the foot of Mount Hodo, about 10 kilometers north of Chichibu. Built in the year 110, the current buildings were reconstructed during the Meiji Period and feature the Gongen-zukuri style, where the prayer hall and main hall share a single roof. The shrine is surrounded by forest and is especially beautiful in autumn when the leaves turn vibrant shades of red and gold.

The shrine’s buildings are adorned with colorful, detailed carvings, making the site visually striking. Just a short walk away is the Hodosan Ropeway, which takes visitors up the mountain, offering lovely views and forest trails. Whether you're admiring the unique architecture, enjoying the seasonal scenery, or taking a relaxing walk in nature, Hodosan Shrine offers a calm escape in the heart of Saitama Prefecture.
