From Tokyo to Chichibu

• From Tokyo, you can reach Chichibu in two easy ways. The fastest is by Seibu Railway from Ikebukuro Station. The direct Red Arrow limited express takes about 80 minutes and costs 1,700 yen with a seat reservation. A cheaper option costs 800 yen but takes around 100 minutes with a train change at Hanno. Another route is to take a JR train or shinkansen to Kumagaya, then transfer to the Chichibu Railway. This trip takes 2 to 3 hours and costs between 2,050 and 4,500 yen. JR passes cover the JR part but not the Chichibu Railway. Discount tickets are available for Seibu trains.
