The easiest way to get around is by rental car. It lets you visit nearby places like Beppu, Yufuin, and Usuki at your own pace. You can rent a car at Oita Airport, in Usa, or in Beppu. Taxi tours and guided bus tours are also available, but English may not be spoken.
