Moominvalley Park is about halfway between Tokyo and Chichibu. From Tokyo, take the Seibu Ikebukuro Line to Hanno Station (40–50 mins), then a 15-minute bus to the park. From Chichibu, take the Seibu Chichibu Line to Hanno Station (40–50 mins), then the same bus. You can also reach the park via Higashi-Hanno Station using JR lines, but this route takes longer and the bus from there isn’t covered by JR passes.

Moominvalley Park
Moominvalley Park (ムーミンバレーパーク) is a magical theme park that brings the beloved Moomin characters, created by Finnish author Tove Jansson, to life in a stunning setting. Located by a picturesque lake about 40 kilometers from Tokyo, the park is the first of its kind outside Finland. It offers visitors an immersive experience through various themed zones, such as Moominvalley, Welcome Cove, and the forested Lonely Mountain. The park’s centerpiece is Kokemus, a three-story exhibition hall that delves into the world of the Moomins and explores the life and creative vision of their creator, Tove Jansson.
In addition to exploring the iconic Moominhouse, visitors can enjoy performances at Emma’s Theatre, take part in family-friendly activities like ziplining and playing in the playground, and wander through outdoor areas inspired by the Moomin stories. The park seamlessly blends Nordic design with nature, offering a range of dining options at its restaurants and cafés, as well as the world’s largest Moomin shop. Before entering the main park, guests stroll through Metsä Village, an open lakeside area with Nordic-themed shopping and dining experiences. This peaceful and imaginative space offers a perfect escape for visitors of all ages.
