Moominvalley Park is about halfway between Tokyo and Chichibu. From Tokyo, take the Seibu Ikebukuro Line to Hanno Station (40–50 mins), then a 15-minute bus to the park. From Chichibu, take the Seibu Chichibu Line to Hanno Station (40–50 mins), then the same bus. You can also reach the park via Higashi-Hanno Station using JR lines, but this route takes longer and the bus from there isn’t covered by JR passes.

Moominvalley Park
Moominvalley Park (ムーミンバレーパーク) is a charming theme park dedicated to the beloved Moomin characters created by Finnish author Tove Jansson. Located by a scenic lake about 40 kilometers from Tokyo, it is the first park of its kind outside Finland. The park brings the Moomin stories to life through immersive zones such as Moominvalley, Welcome Cove, the forested Lonely Mountain, and Kokemus—a three-story exhibition hall that explores the Moomin world and its creator in depth.
Visitors can explore the Moominhouse, enjoy performances at Emma’s Theatre, and take part in family-friendly attractions like a playground, zipline, and outdoor locations from the stories. The park blends Nordic design with nature and features restaurants, cafés, and the world’s largest Moomin shop. Before entering the main park, guests pass through Metsä Village, an open lakeside area with Nordic-inspired shopping and dining. It’s a peaceful, creative space that’s perfect for all ages.
