Museum of Aeronautical Sciences

6 of 8 in Narita

The Museum of Aeronautical Sciences (航空科学博物館, Kōkū Kagaku Hakubutsukan), located just outside Narita Airport, is a fun and interactive spot for aviation lovers and curious visitors alike. Inside, you’ll find full-scale replicas of historic airplanes and parts of modern jets, like a Boeing 747 engine and landing gear. One of the highlights is the chance to try out a life-sized flight simulator and experience what it’s like to pilot a plane.

The museum also offers amazing views of real aircraft in action. The third floor has an outdoor deck overlooking the runway, the fourth floor has a restaurant with runway views, and the fifth floor features a control-tower-style observatory. Outside, more than a dozen planes and helicopters are on display—some you can even go inside. For more great viewing spots, visit nearby parks like Sakura no Oka or Hikoki no Oka to watch planes take off and land.
