Ho Park

Ho Park (豊公園) stretches along the shores of Lake Biwa, creating a relaxing green space where visitors can enjoy both nature and history in one setting. In spring, the park becomes one of Nagahama’s most beloved hanami locations, with hundreds of cherry trees forming soft pink canopies around walking paths, ponds, and open lawns. Nagahama Castle rises at the center of the park, giving the landscape a scenic focal point and offering travelers the chance to learn about the region’s feudal heritage before returning to the peaceful atmosphere outdoors. Benches, quiet lakeside viewpoints, and shaded picnic spaces make Ho Park ideal for a slow stroll, a photography walk, or simply taking a break in view of the water.

The park’s setting also makes it easy to explore the surrounding town. A few minutes’ walk leads visitors into Kurokabe Square, where artisan glass studios, cafés, and traditional storefronts line the streets. Seasonal festivals bring additional liveliness to the park, from cherry blossom celebrations in spring to vibrant autumn foliage displays later in the year.
