Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of History
Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of History (広島県立歴史博物館, Hiroshima Kenritsu Rekishi Hakubutsukan) tells the story of the people and culture of the Setouchi region—an important cultural link between Kyushu and the Kansai area. Through interactive exhibitions, lectures, films, and workshops, the museum illustrates how people lived and flourished in this historically rich part of Japan.
A central highlight is the excavation of Kusado Sengen, a medieval port town once buried in a riverbed. This nationally recognized site offers visitors a rare glimpse into Japan’s medieval trade and daily life. The museum provides an engaging opportunity to explore the traditions, lifestyle, and cultural heritage of the Setouchi area in a way that’s both educational and enjoyable.
