From Kanazawa Station's East Exit, take a bus to Hirosaka bus stop (10 minutes, 210 yen). Some JR buses, covered by the Japan Rail Pass, also stop here. The Kanazawa Loop Bus takes about 20 minutes to reach Hirosaka. The museum is just a short walk from the stop and within walking distance of Kenrokuen and Kanazawa Castle Park.

21st Century Museum
The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art (金沢21世紀美術館, Kanazawa Nijūichiseiki Bijutsukan) in Kanazawa, located just a short walk from the beautiful Kenrokuen Garden, is a must-see destination for modern art enthusiasts. Opened in 2004, the museum presents a dynamic collection of contemporary works by both Japanese and international artists. Its distinctive circular design, with no defined main entrance, creates an open and inviting space for visitors to engage with the art from every angle, encouraging exploration and interaction with the exhibits.
Among the museum’s standout pieces is Leandro Erlich’s "Swimming Pool," which offers a playful illusion of submerging in water, and James Turrell's "Blue Planet Sky," a breathtaking installation that immerses visitors in light and color. In addition to its remarkable art collection, the museum also provides community spaces such as a library and workshops, making it a lively center for both art lovers and local residents. Its blend of modern creativity, public engagement, and community spirit has made the museum a cultural hub in the heart of Kanazawa.
