Getting there

From Tokyo to Iwaki

  • By train

  • From Tokyo, you can reach Iwaki by either a limited express or local train. The limited express Super Hitachi takes 2 hours, costs ¥6,000, and is covered by the Japan Rail Pass, running hourly from Ueno Station to Yumoto and Iwaki stations, with Yumoto closer to the city's tourist attractions. Alternatively, a local train takes about 4 hours, costs ¥3,740, and requires one transfer at Mito, also covered by the Japan Rail Pass.

  • By bus

  • From Tokyo, several bus companies run hourly highway buses to Iwaki Station, taking about 3 hours and costing ¥4,600-¥4,800. A more convenient option is to get off at the Iwaki Yumoto IC bus stop, which is 160 minutes away and costs ¥4,400-¥4,600. It's close to Spa Resort Hawaiians, and local buses (though infrequent) can take you to Yumoto Station and the resort.
