Kakurin-tei Tea House

9 of 12 in Saga

Kakurin-tei Tea House (隔林亭, Kakurin-tei) is a serene cultural treasure nestled within the peaceful grounds of Saga's Kono Park. Originally built in 1846 for Lord Nabeshima Naomasa, the feudal lord of Saga, it served as a guesthouse to welcome important visitors. The building was lost to fire in 1874 but was faithfully reconstructed in 1989 using historical records and photographs.

What makes Kakurin-tei so special is its authentic Japanese architecture and tranquil setting, surrounded by a traditional garden and koi pond. Visitors can step inside to admire the delicate design and enjoy the calm atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to appreciate the art of tea and the elegance of Japanese hospitality. A short walk from Saga Castle, Kakurin-tei offers a timeless escape into the refined world of samurai-era Japan.
