Hitachi Seaside Park
Hitachi Seaside Park (ひたち海浜公園, Hitachi Kaihin Kōen) near Mito is a huge 350-hectare park known for its seasonal flowers and scenic walking and cycling trails. The most iconic sight is the blue nemophila flowers covering Miharashi Hill each spring, blending perfectly with the sky. In autumn, the hill turns red with kokia bushes, offering another striking view. Throughout the year, you can also enjoy tulips, narcissus, and cosmos across different parts of the park.
Beyond the flowers, there’s plenty to do. The park features a small amusement park with over 25 rides, including a 100-meter-tall Ferris wheel and a BMX course. There are also peaceful trails through forests and coastal gardens, a BBQ area, and several restaurants. To explore the large park, visitors can rent bicycles or ride a small sightseeing train, both with affordable passes.
