Hinjitsukan

Recommended
11 of 11 in Ise Shima

Hinjitsukan (賓日館) is a beautiful wooden guesthouse from 1887, located near Meoto Iwa in coastal Futami, Ise City. Once built to welcome imperial guests to the Ise Shrines, it now serves as a museum showing Meiji-era architecture, with both Japanese and Western-style rooms. The elegant Grand Hall upstairs has 120 tatami mats, chandeliers, and gold-leaf ceilings in Momoyama style.

The building is surrounded by a peaceful garden with stone paths, designed by master gardeners. Inside, visitors can see the Goten no Ma room with sea and garden views, and other rooms featuring artworks and local history displays. Although exhibit signs are in Japanese, English pamphlets are available to help you explore this cultural gem.
