Mount Kasayama
Mount Kasayama (笠山), standing 112 meters high on a scenic peninsula about six kilometers north of Hagi’s city center, offers visitors both natural beauty and unique geological features. At the summit, a small 30-meter-wide crater can be explored, either by descending a staircase or taking a short path around the crater’s edge. From this vantage point, the observation deck offers sweeping, panoramic views of the Sea of Japan, making it a perfect spot for photography or simply soaking in the breathtaking surroundings.
At the base of Mount Kasayama lies Myojinike Pond, a peaceful location ideal for a leisurely stroll surrounded by nature. Just a short walk from the pond, you’ll discover the Kaza-ana Holes, a fascinating natural phenomenon hidden in the woods. These mysterious openings release cool air, created by the evaporation of rain and seawater, offering a natural air-conditioning effect, which is especially refreshing during the hot summer months. With food and drink available nearby, the Kaza-ana Holes make for a relaxing and unique spot to enjoy the area's natural wonders.
