Aomori Station is in the city center, next to Aomori Port. Many of the city's attractions are within walking distance, and buses from the station can take you to places like the Aomori Museum of Art and Sannai Maruyama Jomon Sites. Buses also go to Mount Hakkoda and Lake Towada.
Shin-Aomori Station, the shinkansen station, is just a 6-7 minute train ride from Aomori Station. Frequent local and limited express trains connect the two stations. You can ride the limited express trains between them without extra fees in the unreserved section. Aomori Airport is 35 minutes away from Aomori Station by JR bus, with the trip covered by the Japan Rail Pass and some other JR passes.
