Nebuta Warasse
Nebuta Warasse (ねぶたの家 ワ・ラッセ, Nebuta no ie Wa Rasse) is a museum celebrating Aomori’s famous Nebuta Matsuri, held every August. Located near Aomori Station, the striking red metal building stands along the waterfront district. The museum captures the lively atmosphere, history, and traditions of the festival. Upon entering, visitors walk through a red corridor filled with images from the 300-year history of the festival, and lanterns shaped like goldfish hang overhead. The sounds of taiko drums, flutes, and voices add to the immersive experience.
Inside the main hall, five colorful floats from past festivals are displayed. Visitors can admire the intricate craftsmanship and learn about the float designs, which change each year. Interactive exhibits reveal the floats' underlying structures. On weekends and holidays, visitors can enjoy performances by "Haneto" dancers, adding to the lively experience. The museum also features a restaurant and a shop offering local souvenirs and food.
