From Tokyo to Aomori

JAL offers several daily flights between Tokyo's Haneda Airport and Aomori Airport, with a flight time of 80 minutes. Regular fares are around 41,000 yen, but discounts often bring prices down to 16,000 yen. JR buses run from the airport to Aomori Station in 35 minutes for 860 yen, covered by the Japan Rail Pass.

Take the Hayabusa train on the JR Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori (3.5 hours), then switch to a local or limited express train to Aomori Station (5 minutes). The total journey takes around 4 hours, costs about 18,000 yen, and is covered by JR passes. Reservations are required on Hayabusa trains, with one train per hour.

Overnight highway buses from Tokyo to Aomori are run by Konan Bus and other companies. The trip takes about 11 hours and costs between 4,500 and 11,000 yen, depending on the bus and travel date.

Trains between Hirosaki and Aomori run every hour on the JR Ou Line. The trip takes about 45 minutes, costs 680 yen, and is included in the Japan Rail Pass and other JR passes. Faster limited express trains are also available, but they cost extra: 520 yen for an unreserved seat, or 850-1450 yen for a reserved seat.
