Pola Museum
The POLA Museum of Art (ポーラ美術館, Pōla Bijutsukan) opened in 2002 to showcase the private collection of Suzuki Tsuneshi, founder of the POLA skincare brand. Located in Hakone, the museum is thoughtfully built underground to preserve the natural landscape, featuring sleek architecture and large glass walls that invite natural light and offer views of the surrounding forest. It provides a serene, immersive experience where art and nature exist in perfect harmony.
The museum houses an impressive collection of Western and Japanese art, including masterpieces by Cezanne, Monet, Picasso, Renoir, and other icons of Impressionism and modern art. Alongside paintings, visitors can enjoy sculptures, ceramics, and glassware. Surrounded by 300-year-old beech trees, the museum also features a forest walking trail and an elegant café, making it an ideal destination for both art lovers and nature enthusiasts.
