Takaoka Casting Museum
Takaoka Casting Museum (高岡市鋳物資料館, Takaoka-shi Imono Shiryōkan) is a small but fascinating place where you can discover the history of Takaoka's famous metal casting industry. The museum tells the story of how the city became Japan’s leading producer of bronze goods, using displays of tools, techniques, and finished works such as temple bells and sculptures. These exhibits highlight the incredible skill of local craftsmen, whose tradition dates back over 400 years.
Visitors can see how these metal pieces were made and learn about the special role casting played in shaping the city's identity. The museum is located in the Kanayamachi District, once the heart of Takaoka’s craftsman community. It’s a great spot to connect with the city's cultural roots and admire the beauty of bronze art up close.
