Gora Park

10 of 33 in Hakone

Gora Park (強羅公園, Gōra Kōen) is a scenic, Western-style landscape park located on a hillside just above Gora Station. Opened in 1914, it was one of the first French-style formal gardens in Japan and offers a peaceful retreat with open lawns, manicured flowerbeds, and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Its centerpiece is a large fountain encircled by a rose garden, which blooms beautifully in spring and autumn. Two elegant greenhouses house a tropical botanical garden and a seasonal flower garden, providing color and warmth throughout the year.

The park also features a restaurant and a teahouse, both overlooking the central fountain—perfect for relaxing in a tranquil setting. A highlight for many visitors is the Gora Park Crafthouse, where you can participate in hands-on craft workshops such as glass blowing, pottery painting, and dried flower arranging. These experiences typically last between 30 minutes and one hour, with prices ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 yen depending on the activity.
