The Hakone Open-Air Museum is just a short walk from Chokoku-no-Mori Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway (30 minutes, 460 yen from Hakone-Yumoto; covered by the Hakone Free Pass). From Gora Station, it's a 10–15 minute walk to the museum.

Open Air Museum
The Hakone Open-Air Museum (箱根彫刻の森美術館, Hakone Chōkoku no Mori Bijutsukan) is where art and nature meet in perfect harmony. Set against the stunning backdrop of Hakone’s valleys and mountains, the museum’s expansive grounds are dotted with striking sculptures that invite visitors to explore, reflect, and take in the scenery. Indoors, you'll find beautifully curated exhibitions, including the renowned Picasso Pavilion, which houses an impressive collection of the artist’s paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and photographs.
Outside, the museum’s manicured lawns and open spaces feature works by both Japanese and international artists. One of the most iconic installations is the Symphonic Sculpture—a towering spiral structure with vibrant stained-glass panels that lead to a panoramic viewing platform. Beyond the art, the museum offers rotating exhibitions, cozy cafés, shops, interactive art spaces for children, and even a soothing outdoor foot bath, making it a destination that appeals to all ages.
