Otemon Square

Otemon Square (追手門広場, Ōtemon Hiroba) is conveniently located right across from Hirosaki Castle’s main gate, making it a perfect starting point for visitors. The square is home to an information center where tourists can pick up maps, brochures, and receive helpful advice about the city's top attractions. It's an ideal spot to get oriented before exploring the city.

In addition to the information center, Otemon Square offers a variety of amenities, including a souvenir shop and restaurants where visitors can sample local delicacies. A small exhibition in the square showcases local handicrafts and highlights the famous Neputa Festival. The square is also a great place to explore nearby Western-style buildings, such as the former city library built in 1907, which is now open to the public despite no longer being in use.
