Highly Recommended
2 of 50 in Okinawa Island

The Churaumi Aquarium (美ら海水族館, Churaumi Suizokukan) is one of Okinawa's top attractions, housed in the Ocean Expo Park, which was the venue for the 1975 International Ocean Expo. Reopened in 2002 after a complete redesign, it showcases the unique marine life of Okinawa. The aquarium's star is the vast Kuroshio Tank, one of the world's largest. Named after the Kuroshio current, this tank features fascinating marine species, including giant whale sharks and manta rays, making it a must-see for visitors. The aquarium spans three floors, with exhibits such as living coral and sharks, including tiger and bull sharks.

Apart from the main building, visitors can enjoy outdoor pools where they can watch dolphin, sea turtle, and manatee shows for free. The Churaumi Aquarium offers a full range of experiences, from high-definition films on marine life to interactive feeding shows held twice a day. This is the perfect place to learn about and appreciate Okinawa's rich underwater world.
