From Kusatsu Onsen to Karuizawa

From Nagano to Karuizawa

  • From Nagano you can reach Karuizawa in 35 minutes by the JR Hokuriku Shinkansen, with a one-way ticket costing about 3,500 yen. This journey is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass. Alternatively, you can take the Shinano Railway, which takes 90-100 minutes and costs 1,670 yen. Trains depart once or twice per hour, but most require a train change at Komoro Station. JR passes are not valid on the Shinano Railway.
