Ghibli Museum
The Ghibli Museum (ジブリ美術館), nestled in the lush Inokashira Park in Mitaka, just outside Tokyo, is a dreamlike space dedicated to the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli. Founded by renowned filmmaker Miyazaki Hayao, the museum celebrates beloved works such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Spirited Away. The building itself feels like a Ghibli creation—whimsical, colorful, and full of hidden surprises. One of its most iconic features is the rooftop garden, where a life-sized robot soldier from Castle in the Sky stands guard, surrounded by greenery that reflects the studio’s deep love for nature.
Inside, visitors are taken on a journey through the art and science of animation. Original sketches, concept art, and behind-the-scenes displays reveal the painstaking craftsmanship behind Ghibli’s films. Guests can watch exclusive short films—shown only at the museum’s cozy Saturn Theater—that tell unique stories unavailable anywhere else. Children can climb into the plush Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro, while adults can enjoy the charming café serving Ghibli-themed treats, along with a thoughtfully curated gift shop filled with original merchandise. With its immersive design and heartfelt storytelling, the Ghibli Museum captures the spirit of wonder that defines Studio Ghibli and leaves visitors of all ages inspired and enchanted.

I especially loved the short films exclusive to the museum and the chance to explore the fascinating behind-the-scenes artwork. It's a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it for the unique experience. A must-visit for Ghibli lovers or anyone who appreciates art and animation!4 months ago — by Wesley
