Rokko Cablecar
The Rokko Cablecar (六甲ケーブル) is one of the most scenic ways to reach the summit of Mount Rokko, gliding smoothly from its base station in Kobe to the mountaintop in about 10 minutes. As the vintage red-and-green carriages ascend the steep hillside, passengers are treated to sweeping views of forested slopes, Kobe’s skyline, and sparkling glimpses of Osaka Bay below. Operating year-round, the cablecar offers not only a nostalgic ride through nature but also convenient access to the mountain's seasonal highlights—cherry blossoms in spring, refreshing breezes in summer, vibrant autumn foliage, and snow-dusted vistas in winter.
At the summit, visitors can easily connect to a range of attractions via shuttle buses or walking trails. From the elegant Rokko Garden Terrace and the whimsical Rokkosan Music Box Museum to the Alpine Botanical Garden and a snow park in winter, Mount Rokko offers something for every traveler. A one-way trip on the cablecar costs 600 yen, while a round-trip ticket is 1,100 yen—an affordable way to enjoy panoramic views and discover Kobe’s natural beauty from above. The nostalgic charm of the ride and its links to cultural and outdoor destinations make the Rokko Cablecar a highlight of any Kobe itinerary.
