Arima Onsen is a small town, and all the attractions are within walking distance of each other.

Kin no Yu
Kin no Yu (金の湯), located in the lively center of Arima Onsen, is the town’s most prominent public bathhouse and a popular destination for those seeking a traditional onsen experience. Its signature feature is the mineral-rich kinsen (“golden spring”) water, naturally tinted reddish-brown due to high levels of iron and salt. Visitors can unwind in two indoor baths of varying temperatures, with separate facilities for men and women, allowing for a deeply soothing and therapeutic soak. The water is believed to improve circulation, ease muscle tension, and promote overall well-being—making it an ideal retreat after exploring the town’s historic lanes.
But Kin no Yu offers more than just bathing. Outside, travelers can soak their feet in a free public ashiyu (foot bath), while enjoying the nostalgic charm of Arima’s streetscape. Nearby, a special drinking fountain lets visitors sample the famous “gold” water, said to provide internal health benefits that complement its external healing properties. With its mix of wellness, tradition, and accessibility, Kin no Yu serves as a perfect introduction to Arima Onsen’s rich bathing culture.
