From Tokyo to Noboribetsu

  • By plane

  • The quickest way to get to Noboribetsu from Tokyo is by flying to Sapporo's Shin-Chitose Airport. You can book direct flights. The flight takes about one and a half hours.

  • By train

  • Take the JR Tohoku/Hokkaido Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto (4 hours), then transfer to the Hokuto limited express to Noboribetsu Station (2.5 hours). The trip costs about 28,000 yen and takes 7 hours. It's covered by the Japan Rail Pass and JR East South Hokkaido Rail Pass. Seat reservations are required on Hayabusa and Hokuto trains.

From Sapporo to Noboribetsu

  • By train

  • The limited express train from Sapporo to Noboribetsu takes about 1 hour and costs 4,780 yen. Local trains take twice as long but cost only 2,420 yen. All trains are covered by the Japan Rail Pass, Hokkaido Rail Pass, and Sapporo-Noboribetsu Area Rail Pass. Seat reservations are required on limited express trains.

    From Noboribetsu Station, take a 15-minute bus to Noboribetsu Onsen for 350 yen (one or two buses per hour). The buses are run by Donan Bus and are not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. A taxi costs about 2,500 yen.

  • Donan Bus runs one direct bus per day between Sapporo Station and Noboribetsu Onsen. The trip takes 100-140 minutes and costs 2,500 yen.

From Hakodate to Noboribetsu

  • By train

  • All limited express trains between Hakodate and Sapporo stop at Noboribetsu Station. The trip from Hakodate takes about 2.5 hours, costs 7,460 yen, and is covered by the Japan Rail Pass and Hokkaido Rail Pass. Seat reservations are required.

    From Noboribetsu Station, take a 15-minute bus to Noboribetsu Onsen for 350 yen (one or two buses per hour). These buses are not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. A taxi costs about 2,500 yen.
