Karakuri Museum
The Karakuri Museum (飛騨高山獅子会館からくりミュージアム), located at Hachiman Shrine, is an intriguing spot showcasing mechanical dolls (karakuri ningyo), which are mounted onto festival floats during special occasions. These dolls are a beautiful representation of Japan’s traditional craftsmanship. Visitors can admire the intricate movements of these mechanical wonders, a testament to the country's rich cultural history.
Additionally, the museum exhibits over 200 shishimai (lion dance) masks from across Japan. These masks, used in traditional dances, are vibrant and detailed, adding to the museum's charm. It's an excellent destination for those who appreciate Japan’s historical craftsmanship and unique cultural performances.
