Shima Kitchen (島キッチン), located in the charming Karato village on Teshima, is a vibrant testament to the island's rich cultural heritage. Established during the 2010 Setouchi International Art Festival, the restaurant transformed a vacant house into a dynamic community hub. Designed by architect Ryo Abe, the space skillfully combines traditional Japanese elements with modern design, creating a welcoming environment that celebrates both art and culinary excellence.
