Toba Aquarium

5 of 11 in Ise Shima

Toba Aquarium (鳥羽水族館, Toba Suizokukan) is located along scenic Toba Bay, right beside Mikimoto Pearl Island. It’s one of Japan’s largest aquariums in terms of species diversity, featuring over 12 themed zones you can explore at your own pace. From tropical fish and jellyfish to sea lions and playful otters, it offers an incredible variety of sea life. You'll also find amphibians, reptiles, and seabirds housed in well-designed environments.

A unique highlight is that Toba Aquarium is the only facility in Japan where you can see a dugong, a rare marine mammal. Throughout the day, the aquarium hosts engaging animal shows and feeding sessions, usually held on the hour. There's no fixed path, so you’re free to wander and enjoy the exhibits at your own rhythm. This flexibility, along with its rich marine life, makes it a great destination for families and sea lovers.
