Kokoen Garden (好古園, Kōkoen) is a peaceful Japanese-style garden nestled on the grounds of what was once the western residence of a feudal lord. Opened to the public in 1992, the garden offers visitors a glimpse into the elegance of traditional Japanese landscaping, featuring nine meticulously crafted walled gardens, each reflecting a different aspect of the Edo Period. The tranquil surroundings include a pond garden with a cascading waterfall, a serene tea garden, and vibrant flower gardens, all designed to evoke a sense of calm and reflection.

Throughout the expansive grounds, you'll find a variety of themed gardens, such as a pine tree garden and a bamboo garden, each showcasing unique elements of Japanese horticultural art. The careful arrangement of plants, water features, and architectural elements invites visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of Japanese landscape design, offering a peaceful retreat that emphasizes the harmony between nature and culture.
