Ghibli Park

10 of 35 in Nagoya

Ghibli Park (ジブリパーク), opened in November 2022, near Nagoya, offers a captivating journey into the enchanting worlds of Studio Ghibli’s most cherished films. Situated in the spacious Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, the park provides a unique experience, focusing on immersing visitors in the magical settings of films like My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Rather than thrilling rides like those in traditional amusement parks, the park showcases the beautiful artistry and imaginative landscapes of Ghibli’s iconic movies. It is divided into five distinct areas, each representing a different facet of the studio’s storytelling, including Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, where exhibitions and exclusive screenings bring fans closer to the world of animation, and the Valley of Witches, with European-style architecture inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Unlike traditional amusement parks, Ghibli Park offers a peaceful and detailed experience, where visitors can explore the animated worlds in a more serene, intimate setting. The Dondoko Forest brings My Neighbor Totoro to life with a full-scale replica of Satsuki and Mei’s house, and Mononoke Village immerses guests in the mystical landscapes of Princess Mononoke. The Hill of Youth features a striking elevator tower inspired by Laputa: Castle in the Sky, providing a remarkable visual experience. Tickets must be purchased in advance, with limited visitor numbers to maintain a tranquil atmosphere and enhance the immersive adventure, making it a must-see destination for Ghibli fans.
