Ghibli Park

10 of 35 in Nagoya

Ghibli Park (ジブリパーク), which opened in November 2022 just outside Nagoya, invites visitors into the enchanting worlds of Studio Ghibli’s most beloved films. Unlike traditional theme parks, Ghibli Park foregoes roller coasters in favor of immersive settings that capture the heart and soul of movies like My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Located within the scenic grounds of Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, the attraction is divided into five meticulously designed areas. At the heart of the park is Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, home to interactive exhibits, whimsical film sets, and rotating screenings. In the Valley of Witches, European-inspired streets and fantasy architecture pay tribute to Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle, allowing guests to stroll through scenes that feel lifted straight from the screen.

Each zone highlights a different facet of Ghibli’s storytelling, blending nature, nostalgia, and fantasy into a uniquely immersive experience. Dondoko Forest recreates Totoro’s countryside magic with a full-scale replica of Satsuki and Mei’s house, nestled among wooded trails and play areas for children. Mononoke Village delivers a wilder, more mystical atmosphere, complete with hand-crafted sculptures and structures inspired by Princess Mononoke. The Hill of Youth adds a touch of retro charm, featuring an iconic elevator tower inspired by Laputa: Castle in the Sky, along with nods to Whisper of the Heart. To preserve the peaceful atmosphere and ensure a comfortable experience, all tickets must be reserved in advance, with strict limits on daily visitors.
