Saga Prefectural Museum (佐賀県立美術館, Saga Kenritsu Bijutsukan) offers a rich introduction to Saga’s natural and cultural heritage. Opened in 1970 and located just across from Saga Castle, the museum showcases archaeological artifacts, traditional crafts, Buddhist art, and displays on local flora and fauna. You’ll find everything from ancient fishing tools to beautifully preserved Japanese swords, offering a fascinating glimpse into the region’s past.

The museum is connected to the Saga Prefectural Art Museum, which highlights modern and contemporary works, including paintings by renowned Saga-born artist Okada Saburosuke. Admission to both museums is free, except for special exhibitions. It's an easy walk from Saga Castle, or a short ride from Saga Station by bus or taxi. Take a local bus from the Saga Station Bus Center and get off at the Kencho-mae (Prefectural Office) bus stop. From there, it’s a 5-minute walk to the museum. Alternatively, you can take a taxi (about 10 minutes) or walk (about 25 minutes) from Saga Station.
