Kawachi Wisteria Garden
Kawachi Wisteria Garden (河内藤園, Kawachi Fujien) is a stunning private garden located in the wooded hills south of Kitakyushu, renowned for its spectacular wisteria displays. The garden draws crowds during the wisteria season, which peaks from late April to early May, when the flowers bloom in an array of colors, from pure white to deep purple. Visitors can wander through two mesmerizing wisteria tunnels, each stretching approximately 100 meters, providing a surreal, flower-draped experience. The garden also opens its doors in the autumn, offering a beautiful contrast with vibrant maple leaves.
Apart from the tunnels, the garden features towering wisteria trees that form a breathtaking canopy of cascading blooms. A hilltop viewpoint provides panoramic views of the garden’s lush landscape, with the wisteria blossoms creating a sea of color against the backdrop of bamboo groves in the valley. Due to the garden’s growing popularity, especially during Golden Week, advance reservations are now required to manage the influx of visitors during peak times.
