Kasamatsu Park
Kasamatsu Park (天橋立傘松公園), perched on a hill overlooking the northern end of the Amanohashidate Sandbar, offers some of the most iconic panoramic views of this famous natural landmark. Easily accessible by chairlift or cable car, the park provides visitors with a breathtaking vantage point where the sandbar looks like a pathway connecting heaven and earth. Kasamatsu Park is particularly known for its traditional matanozoki viewing style: visitors bend over and look at the sandbar upside down through their legs, making it seem as though the land bridge is floating in the sky—a practice that has been enjoyed for over a thousand years. Several observation platforms within the park offer different angles of this stunning scenery, creating perfect photo opportunities throughout the seasons.
Beyond its spectacular views, Kasamatsu Park offers a peaceful natural setting where visitors can relax, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and explore the surrounding landscape. The park features small souvenir shops, cafés, and rest areas where guests can pause and admire the scenery. In addition to being a popular viewpoint, Kasamatsu Park also serves as a convenient starting point for visiting Nariaiji Temple, with shuttle buses departing regularly from the park. Whether you're seeking awe-inspiring views or a quiet escape into nature, Kasamatsu Park offers a perfect combination of sightseeing and serenity.
