The Kabira Line bus runs from central Ishigaki to Kabira Bay every 1 to 3 hours. The ride takes about 45 minutes and costs 730 yen one way. There is also the Yonehara Line, which operates less frequently and connects the city and the airport to Kabira Bay via Yonehara Beach.
Kabira Bay
Kabira Bay (川平湾) is one of the most stunning natural wonders on Ishigaki Island, renowned for its crystal-clear, emerald-blue waters and dramatic island landscapes. The bay’s serene beauty is amplified by its pristine environment, and while swimming, snorkeling, and diving are prohibited to preserve its delicate ecosystem, visitors can still immerse themselves in the bay’s underwater wonders. A 30-minute glass-bottom boat ride offers a unique opportunity to view the vibrant marine life and colorful coral reefs from above the water, allowing you to enjoy the tropical fish and stunning scenery without getting wet.
In addition to its natural beauty, Kabira Bay is famous for being one of only two locations in Japan, alongside Iriomote Island, where rare black pearls are cultivated. The calm atmosphere, abundant marine life, and breathtaking views make Kabira Bay an unforgettable destination. Whether you're fascinated by the pearl cultivation or simply want to relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings, Kabira Bay is a must-see stop for anyone visiting Ishigaki.
