Miyazaki Science Museum
The Miyazaki Science Museum (宮崎科学技術館, Miyazaki Kagakugijutsukan) is a vibrant and hands-on science center conveniently located just across from Miyazaki Station. Designed to spark curiosity in visitors of all ages, the museum experience begins with a warm welcome from “Dr. Cosmo,” a cheerful animatronic robot who introduces guests to the wonders of physics, technology, and space exploration. Inside, a wide range of interactive exhibits encourages visitors to touch, try, and experiment—making it an especially popular destination for families, school groups, and anyone with a curious mind.
Space exploration is the museum’s main attraction. Highlights include life-size replicas of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module and the Gemini Spacecraft, offering an up-close look at key milestones in space history. There’s also a detailed 1/4 scale model of Japan’s H-1 rocket, providing insight into the country’s contributions to aerospace development. On the upper floor, the museum features one of the largest planetariums in the world, where visitors can enjoy immersive shows simulating the night sky and exploring the cosmos.
