Kizakura Brewery
Kizakura Brewery (黄桜カッパカントリー) is a popular destination located in Kyoto’s famous Fushimi sake district, an area known for its rich sake-brewing tradition and pure spring water. Kizakura stands out not only for its high-quality sake but also for its unique combination of sake and craft beer production. At the brewery’s restaurant, Kizakura Kappa Country, visitors can sample a wide range of freshly brewed sake and house-made craft beers, perfectly paired with traditional Japanese dishes. The cozy, casual atmosphere makes it an inviting place to experience Kyoto's local flavors and brewing culture firsthand.
In addition to dining, Kizakura offers an engaging brewery tour experience. About a 15-minute walk from the heart of the sake district, the Kizakura brewery grounds feature a museum that introduces visitors to both sake and beer brewing processes through informative exhibits and displays. Guests can observe the koji mold room, where the key ingredient for sake fermentation is cultivated, and watch the beer canning line in operation. After exploring the museum, visitors can relax at the on-site restaurant or browse the shop for unique Kizakura sake and beer products to take home. The combination of history, craftsmanship, and hands-on learning makes Kizakura Brewery a memorable stop for anyone interested in Japanese brewing traditions.
